Watermark Designs wins Brooklyn-Made Award from Brooklyn Chamber Of Commerce

November 3, 2015

Watermark Designs was honored at the annual meeting of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce with an award in the Design category for their 30-plus years of manufacturing their faucets and pdbvlumbing fixtures all in the heart of Brooklyn. The award, named Brooklyn-Made provides a quantitative, exclusive measurement of product authenticity that signals quality to consumers. It represents a platform for businesses to market and differentiate their products while promoting local business activity and engagement. Review of the criteria for the award is done by the Brooklyn-Made Advisory Board, an independent review board established with the sole purpose of reviewing Brooklyn-Made Certification applications on a quarterly basis.

As baseline criteria, only legal businesses headquartered in Brooklyn making one or more physical products were considered. From there, the points-based system evaluated a range of manufacturing activities, including:

  • Sourcing of materials
  • Product design and development
  • Product processing
  • Product assembly
  • Product finishing
  • Location of employees
  • Length of time operating in Brooklyn

“It is such an honor to receive another award from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce,” said Avi Abel, president and 3rd generation owner of Watermark Designs. “We have been touting the benefits and uniqueness of Brooklyn for 35 years. We always knew that our location and commitment to our Brooklyn roots as well our diverse community was a point of pride. Being recognized again is humbling, but it also serves to strengthen our commitment to what we already believe: Brooklyn-Made is the best!"

In 2014, Watermark Designs was awarded a Gold Manufacturing Certificate from the chamber, which indicates that Watermark Designs manufacturers and produces their products with the highest percentage of materials sourced locally.

This year has seen Watermark Designs introduce a number of Brooklyn-made collections including the H-Line collection which was designed in collaboration with designer Mark Zeff for his project at 500 W. 21st in New York, overlooking the High Line. Watermark Designs also introduced additions to their award-winning Elan Vital collection, a pot filler and a kitchen faucet, each of which can be completely customized which is in keeping with the rest of the Elan Vital collection.
